Mid Back and Neck Pain

The Real Source of Your Neck and Mid Back Pain
What Your Health Care Professional Is Missing

One of the most fascinating parts of my work is being able to demonstrate to my clients how the body part where they are feeling the pain is not always the true cause of their discomfort. They’ll come away with questions like, “How did you fix my neck when you only worked on my hip and pelvis.” When people come into my office I am usually the first one to ever have explained to them that their body actually works in kinetic chains. In other words one seemingly remote part of your body can directly affect another part resulting in pain or discomfort. For example an asymmetrical alignment in your pelvis can affect your shoulder or neck.

But no matter how much I explain this fact, our education regarding the body is well engrained, so people are still confused by the results they experience. And I can’t blame them. They are good students of what they’ve been taught all of their lives. When someone has neck pain, common knowledge says that they should see a neck specialist. If you have a knee problem then you see an expert in knees right? That is the norm and it follows common logic. That’s why what I suggest is so uncommon.

When we go to experts in a certain area nine times out of ten they will focus on their area expertise. You wouldn’t expect to go to a neck specialist and have them refer you to a podiatrist would you? No you wouldn’t. And that is exactly why when you go in to see that neck specialist they will give you every shot, surgery, or other prescription
